Last week a wonderfully talented musician sent me a lovely little present.
(P.S The best way to grab somebody’s attention is with chocolate)
If you follow me on snapchat you may have seen my snaps raving about it.
Thanks, Olivia, I thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate and the music.
All joking aside, I think this is a really great way for artists and musicians to grab a DJ’s attention. By no means am I telling artists to go out and spend a fortune on gifts or cakes to impress DJ’s in return for getting your music played. I’m saying a little bit of presentation goes a long way. However, before you run out buying a thousand bars of Galaxy chocolate bars make sure your music is getting into the hands of the right people. Take a look at a radio station’s website and try to figure out what DJ’s are allowed to hand select music to play on their shows. Quite often there may only be one or two per station, as well as those in charge of the music playlist. If you find out who to send your music to, you’ll save a lot of time, effort and money.
Now back to Olivia…
After I finished off the chocolate and had a look at the super cute packaging I had a listen to her CD in my car. I drive a lot, so that’s where I listen to most of the promo CDs I get in the post.
She instantly reminded me of Nina Nesbitt! A cool Irish version of Nina Nesbitt. If you’re not sure of who Nina Nesbitt is, here’s one of my favorite tracks by her.
I bought tickets to her last Irish gig in The Olympia about a year ago, but unfortunately something came up and I couldn’t go. There’s always next time. And hey, now Ireland has Olivia Burke’s gigs to look forward to.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Olivia’s fresh new sound. She’s one lady I will definitely be keeping my eye on, she’s got that Jess Glynn thing about her. But hey, just don’t take my word for it. Check out her debut track “Loud”.
Olivia will be having her EP launch in Tullamore this coming Friday, October 30th.
