Following a storming performance this weekend at Longitude 2017, Brave Giant is now gearing up for its first visit to the U.S.A. with shows in Milwaukee and New York this August.
It’s been a remarkable 18 months for independent band, Brave Giant. Their current single, The Time I Met the Devil (featuring Irish actor and comedian, Joe Rooney) has enjoyed over 60,000 views in less than twelve weeks adding to their impressive overall tally of 500,000 online video views.
Since June 2016 the band has had five consecutive sell-out headline shows in Dublin, including two sold-out shows at Whelan’s (main room) this spring. In winter last year, they joined Gavin James and Roisin O as the musical ambassadors of the Bord na Móna ‘HearthSessions’. Thus far in 2017, the boys have performed on RTE’s flagship The Late Late Show, supported Picture This during their five-night sell out run at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and welcomed over 1,500 fans to their recent Longitude performance.
Formed in 2011, Mark Prunty (guitar/vox), Podge Gill (guitar/vox), Ross McNerney (banjo/mandolin), Emmett Collum (drums) are the four young Longford men of Brave Giant. Their love of Irish music is evident in their sound, a skilfully achieved blend of rock, folk and alternative influences.
‘City Of Wolves’ is an energetic guitar driven, drum fuelled track from BrassPhantoms and just a taster of what they have in store this year. The Dublin four-piece, indie rock band has an eclectic mix of influences, ranging from Joy Division to Foals. In February, they released their well received single ‘Waiting Up’.
No stranger to the live scene, BrassPhantoms have headlined their own shows throughout the country. They’ve been part of major festivals such as Other Voices and will be taking to the Cork stage at this year’s Indiependence Festival on the August Bank Holiday.
With a busy summer ahead and a follow-up single due for release in September – keep your eyes peeled as the band will be announcing some Irish shows throughout the coming months. You don’t want to miss their pure raw live energy on stage! The foursome will also embark on their first UK tour later in the year.
When it comes to Irish music I absolutely love seeking out the freshest new bands. I was delighted to invite D-Day into iRadio to play some brand new tunes. An incredibly hard working bunch of lads from the West of Ireland, they’ll no doubt be playing loads of festival over the coming months. You should definitely get your ass to see them at some stage.
Actually….. They’re playing this coming Friday in The Loft Venue, Seven in Galway.
If you’re Dublin bound, they’ll be playing Whelan’s as well! Yippee!
If you missed their studio session, you can listen back below!
Best of luck to the guys, it was a pleasure having them in and as always I’ll be keeping you updated in their success.
