INTRODUCING // LYDIA FORD

Lydia Ford is a singer-songwriter from Mayo, Ireland. Ford grew up in a musical household – her sister banged out Rachmaninoff every Saturday morning, while car journeys with mom involved a dose of Bruce Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac anthologies. At the age of 9 she picked up the guitar, inspired mainly by her adoration of pop-punk star Avril Lavigne. From there, she began writing and developing her own songs.

Currently based in New York City, Ford’s music now takes inspiration from her subway rides rather than the green coast of west Ireland. While the pop elements remain, life experiences and her formative twenties has added a more tongue-in-cheek approach to her lyrics. Ford continues to experiment and develop her bedroom productions with synths, strings, and electric guitars.

Formed as a collective of songwriters, childhood friends Shay, Kristam and Jake began working remotely with the shared goal of writing the songs they wanted to hear.

Hundreds of emails and flights on budget airlines later the Irish trio have crafted a sound that mixes sugary hooks, playful melodies and lush, chilled instrumentation.

Fox Vicious release their first single “Worlds Apart” on all major digital platforms.

Two years in the making, this single marks the start of the release cycle for their debut effort – [FVEP].

Further singles “Battleshakes”, “Crystal Eyes” and “Paper Planes” will be released digitally throughout Summer 2017.

Stellar Awards nomination 2016

Eeeeeeeek! I’ve been nominated in the Stellar #ShineAwads2016 in the Best Radio DJ category.

Holy Moly! I’ve been nominated again this year in the Stellar Shine awards. I’m absolutely flabbergasted. If you’ve known me for a few years you’ll be well aware that radio is my one true love. As a teenager in leaving cert, I wasn’t exactly encouraged to pursue my dream of becoming a radio DJ, but I’m not the sort of person who accepts NO as an answer. With a very encouraging Mammy, she told me I could do whatever I put my mind to and by feck I did. Nothing was going to stop me!

I’ve been with iRadio for six wonderfully enjoyable years broadcasting on semi-national radio station iRadio and I love every single minute of it. I present lots of different shows in iRadio and throughout the last six years, I’ve been lucky enough to meet and interview some amazing bands and artists.

If you fancy giving me your vote, I’d be completely over the moon. It’s amazing to get a little nod for doing what you love in life. It’s would be even more AMAZING to WIN! 😀
